CITY ATTORNEY MIKE AGUIRRE ENDORSES GONZALEZ IN DISTRICT 2 COUNCIL RACE - Gonzalez

Gonzalez singled out for her history of coastal work - San Diego -
Vote the Coast, a statewide organization that works to "elect coastal friendly candidates" to
public office, announced their formal endorsement of Lorena Gonzalez for
San Diego City Council in District 2. The coastal district, which encompasses
Point Loma, Ocean Beach, Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, Downtown's waterfront
and portions of La Jolla, is seen as one of the most important coastal
areas in the state.
LORENA GONZALEZ IS UNANIMOUSLY ENDORSED BY THE LEAGUE OF CONSERVATION VOTERS SAN DIEGO - San
Diego City Council Candidate Lorena Gonzalez was unanimously endorsed by
the League of Conservation Voters San Diego (LCVSD) this past week. LCVSD
based its endorsement on environmental credentials, candidate viability,
and the ability to be an effective leader on behalf of the environment.
Sierra Club Endorses Environmental Attorney in District 2 Council Race -
"Lorena has proven her commitment to protecting San Diego's coastline
and neighborhoods," said Richard Miller, chairman of the club's San Diego chapter.
"She is the only candidate in this election who can be counted on to stand up to
the developers and hoteliers whose unchecked growth has created an infrastructure
deficit that threatens the quality of life for San Diegans and the health of our
environment."
Environmental Leaders and Organizations Endorse Lorena Gonzalez for San
Diego City Council District Two - San Diego City Councilwoman Donna Frye
said, "I need a partner to clean-up Mission Bay, improve water quality along our
coast and protect open spaces." Environmental leaders and organizations
understand the importance the January 10th election will have for the future of
the City. "I have worked so long with these fine people and organizations and
delighted to have their backing," said Gonzalez.

Gonzalez's vision for "livable neighborhoods" includes clean beaches and
bays, safe streets and enough police officers to patrol
them.

"Every morning, when [my husband] puts on his gun and badge I know we would all be safer if there
were more police on the streets," Gonzalez said. "We need to respect
our officers, we need to provide them a contract that will keep them
here and we need to make public safety our number one priority."
